The S.A.B.O.K program of Gosford Public School is making a difference in the way in which we all act towards one another, be they staff, children, volunteers or parents etc. It has been growing in strength each year from its inception back in 2002, giving more positive outlook and response to our children witnessing the overwhelming graphic pictorials from the September 11th, senseless attack on humanity to the continuing barrage of horrific events evidenced daily, throughout the media.
ACTIONS DO SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS
S.A.B.O.K
Acronym for: Show A Bit Of Kindness
S.A.B.O.K is a special school based ‘Random acts of Kindness’ programme, conceptualised as a parent of Gosford Public School, back in 2001. Our school when approached to consider this programme, embraced the idea and gave S.A.B.O.K wings. Due to this enthusiasm, along with that of the wonderful team of Teachers, Staff and Students of Gosford Public School, S.A.B.O.K has grown into a much anticipated part of the School Year.
The need for positive reinforcement in our Schools, highlighting POSITIVE behaviour towards one another, will bring rich rewards of their own making and a greater appreciation of each other. school bullying is a major issue within our schools communities that S.A.B.O.K is addressing.
S.A.B.O.K is an activity that will make a difference, not only to ourselves, but to others. it is a pride lifter, a positive self-esteem builder and is ‘positively’ contagious. it is high time that the positive outweigh the negative and this is the programme that has been put to the test at Gosford Public School and reaped success and huge rewards.
For many of the already ‘good’ children in our schools it is all too often threatening to stand up and project a good image when the bad behaviour is so often than not the one that draws the most attention and response. Random Acts of Kindness do exist and are active in our schools and MUST be highlighted above the negative forms of behaviour.
This is why S.A.B.O.K has been an invaluable programme in Gosford Public School, for their positive and valuable contributions, given to our school and its community. Yes, believe it or not, we do have a positive and a well-behaved majority that exist in our school communities. Please let them know it!.
This is an active synergetic activity that everyone who enters the school is involved in, not only the children. The adult involvement in this activity also demonstrates and reinforces r5espect towards one another, even when you are OLDER, breaking down any so called generation gap!!

S.A.B.O.K Monitors
About ten, Year 6 Class Leadership Monitors are selected each term to be on the lookout for random acts of kindness outwardly displayed around the school. The role of the monitor (depending on numbers applying for the position) will be of one term duration. The teachers also write out nominations throughout the year. The nominations are presented weekly at a whole school assembly.
