Gosford Primary School

Ready, Set, Go! (RSG)

  1. What is Ready, Set, Go?

A transition program designed for children entering Kindergarten the following year.

  1. Why do we have RSG?
  • Ease children into an unfamiliar environment, making it a familiar and friendly place.
  • Enable children to get to know their new classmates, school surrounds & school routines.
  • Introduce children to some of the teachers, classrooms, toilets, playground areas, office and hall.
  • To boost their confidence and make them feel comfortable about starting school.
  • Foster a positive attitude towards school.
  • To ease separation from parents.

Ready, Set, Go! takes place in our school hall and operates for 3 weeks in Term 4 each year.

Children participate in a variety of activities based on a theme. Week 1 is “Colour”, the second week is “Water” & “Sport” is the theme for week 3. During the third week, as well as enjoying some sporting activities, children get taken on tours of the school.

Parents are invited to attend workshops in conjunction with the student program. These sessions provide valuable information on:

  • Successful “Starting School” tips
  • Routine for children & parents
  • Surviving the first few weeks
  • Tours of the school
  • Learning to Read & Write

All children participating in the Ready, Set, Go! program, receive a T-shirt titled “Look who’s going to Gosford Public School”, and a DVD telling a story about “Starting School” at Gosford.

Parents are encouraged to attend a Parent Information Evening, prior to RSG, where important information about all other aspects of our school is imparted.
